## Frequently Asked Questions


**Q: Can Momo read my emails?**

A: Before Momo reads your emails, it first filters out any sensitive information like Social Security numbers, and goes through Claude's LLMs where we have set up a Zero Retention Data contract. None of your data is stored for training. Afterwards, your content is client-side encrypted before storage. Momo's servers only ever see ciphertext. Your encryption key never leaves your device.

**Q: What counts as a "decision"?**

A: Momo recognizes 10 types: approvals, rejections, selections, delegations, commitments, direction changes, confirmations, cancellations, negotiations, and prioritizations. If someone decided something, Momo catches it.

**Q: Do I need to install anything?**

A: No. Momo is a web app. Connect your accounts via OAuth, create your encryption key, and you're done. For Slack/Discord, you install a bot. For Claude Code, you install the MCP plugin.


**Q: What AI model does Momo use?**

A: Claude for chat and advanced reasoning. GPT-4o-mini for extraction (optimized for cost at scale). OpenAI text-embedding-3-small for vector search.

**Q: Can I use Momo without a team?**

A: Yes. Momo works great for individuals. Connect your Gmail and get a personal decision log with AI search.

**Q: What happens if I lose my encryption key?**

A: During setup, you receive a 12-word recovery phrase. Use it to restore your key on any device. If you lose both the key and the phrase, your encrypted data cannot be recovered — that's the point of zero-knowledge encryption.

**Q: Does Momo work with Claude Code / OpenClaw?**

A: Yes. Install the Momo plugin and your coding agent gets access to your team's decision memory via MCP. No more hallucinating about past decisions.

**Q: How fresh is the data?**

A: GitHub, Slack, and Discord decisions arrive in real-time via webhooks. Gmail runs a daily sync plus push notifications. Notion syncs periodically.


**Q: Can I delete my data?**

A: Yes. You can delete individual decisions or your entire account. Deletions are permanent and immediate.

**Q: Is my data used to train AI models?**

A: No. Your data is never used for training. We use Claude and OpenAI APIs with zero data retention policies.
